Vandergrift High School is built on an environmentally sensitive site and one of the remaining few hill country sites of its size in the area. The school consists of two linear buildings that step down the site. A twelve foot vertical drop across a fifty foot wide courtyard separates the building s and provides opportunities for planters and exterior gathering areas. Much of the student circulation occurs under exterior canopies, reducing building square footage and related energy costs. One building houses Academics and Administration. The other building houses Fine Arts and Athletics.
