Presentation - Case Study Design of Dripping Springs High School Dripping Springs ISD
Presented by: Fields & Associates Architects and American Constructors
The CEFPI Central Texas Chapter meeting on February 8, 2012 featured Dripping Springs High School, Dripping Springs ISD. The program focused on why an existing middle school was a good candidate to repurpose into a 2,500 student high school and why repurposing an existing facility is a sustainable design approach. The short answer to the repurposing question is land availability. The short answer to the sustainable question is recycling a building is about the greenest thing a client can do. The challenges of a fully functional campus successfully incorporating major construction for two years were also discussed.
High school students returning to their old middle school to finish their high school experience was a concern to students but as the Dripping Springs High School principal commented, most students could not recognize the existing middle school components and were excited and very proud of their new high school.

On January 26, 2012 the Lake Travis ISD Board Members awarded Fields & Associates Architects the $53.7 million New Lake Travis Middle School.

Chuck Fields, President of Fields & Associates Architects, would like to thank the Lake Travis Independent School District for given us the opportunity of working with the district and the community. Also, he would like to thank his staff for their hard work and dedication not only for the firm but to the district.
Lake Travis ISD and Fields & Associates have had a long history working together. Over the past 20 years; the firm designed the original Hudson Bend Middle School, four Elementary schools, an auditorium, a distribution center and a transportation center. Throughout these project, we experience that with the understanding of the district and the community; we were able to complete the projects on time and on budget. It is important for us to continue to establish a relationship with the district and the community.
